One of the most exciting projects we have delivered in recent years, this sensational kitchen and bathroom refurbishment in the heart of Stockbridge transformed a traditional Edinburgh apartment into a home designed beautifully for modern family living.

Like so many period apartments within Edinburgh city centre, the challenge was balancing contemporary lifestyle requirements with the character and history that make these homes so special.
Our clients were looking to create additional bathroom facilities and a larger kitchen and dining experience that better reflected how their family lived day to day — spaces designed not simply to function, but to be enjoyed.
The design vision was expertly crafted by Malcolm Duffin Design, who creatively reimagined the existing layout. The original bathroom was thoughtfully divided to create two exceptional spaces — an elegant and traditional principal bathroom accessed from the hall, alongside a striking contemporary ensuite with a corner shower, creating a personal retreat within a busy family home.
The kitchen transformation is nothing short of sensational. A beautiful banquette seating area positioned around elevated views across Stockbridge created a destination within the home — a place designed for connection, conversation and everyday living rather than meal preparation alone. A glazed internal partition introduced light deep into the hall space, enhancing flow throughout the apartment and connecting seamlessly to newly installed LVT flooring that unified the spaces beautifully.
Delivering projects within Edinburgh’s historic buildings often requires creativity beyond design alone. Situated on the third floor, with no additional storage areas and limited waste removal options, every delivery and material movement required careful coordination and real-time planning. Challenges were met with patience, collaboration and problem solving — values that sit at the heart of how we work.
This project challenged us, taught us and reminded us exactly why we do what we do.
